Cabinet Wood Species* (Required)

Maple is the best choice for painting, as other types of wood have more grain that could show through the paint. Cherry has more grain than Maple and should be used for staining. Hickory and Pine wood are special-order items that will require more time to build and parts (such as mouldings) are not always available.

Doors and drawer fronts can be built to overlay the face frame by 1/2 inch (standard overlay) or most of the frame (full overlay), or can be made so they fit into the frame flush with the front (inset). Examples can be seen on the door styles page.

Drawer Slides and Box (1)

Standard cabinets have 5/8" thick Poplar drawers with full-extension drawer glides. Upgrade options include 5/8" thick hard Maple drawers and soft-close undermount full-extension drawer slides. Click to see examples.
